Treat them with kindness

“Christian charity ought not to be content with not hating our enemies and loving them as brothers; it also demands that we treat them with kindness.”  (Pope Benedict XV)

This photo says it all.  The Pope went to visit his assassin in prison and offered his sincere forgiveness.  His first words from the hospital bed while recovering were, “Let us pray for my brother who tried to kill me, and whom I have sincerely forgiven.”   This is what distinguishes us as Christians.  This is what sets us apart.  This allows us to show the merciful love of God in a real and tangible way.
