My Purple Scooter

Today there was at tiny little baby on a scooter.  We called him “the surfer”, and he would not let go of it. E even if you would try to sit him down – nothing — he would hold tight to his scooter. Even when one of the missionaries was passing out candy, he would not let go! It was his one joy of the day, his one possession, his moment.

It made me think. To what do I hold on? What’s my scooter that I will not let go of? Is it my friendship with Christ? The Eucharist ? What’s my joy of the day? Am I as simple as the little boy whose purple scooter meant everything and he was so content with? Or am I like the prodigal son, greedy, always looking for more, not content with what I have and dissatisfied with life?

I beg Christ to give me the grace to be like little Lorenson, happy with the simple ordinary things, content with what He gives me and holding tight to it!
