Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God –Philippians 4:6
Calling all Catholics!
Beginning Saturday, Jan. 19 through Jan. 27, 2013, the US Bishops are launching a Prayer Campaign for Life to help rebuild a culture “favorable to life, marriage and religious liberty.”
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, the initiative is a call to prayer and penance, encouraging Holy Hours, praying the family rosary, special Prayers of the Faithful at parish Masses, fasting and abstinence on Fridays, and even “a second observance of a Fortnight for Freedom,” according to Tom Grenchik, USCCB Executive Director of the Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, who was quoted in an online LifeNews.com article. He called all Catholics to participate in this “Nine Days of Prayer, Penance and Pilgrimage.” Pilgrimage suggestions include either participating in the Washington DC March for Life on January 25, or in local rallies or liturgies.
A special prayer novena will be available with daily prayer intentions for our country and for the conversion of elected officials and healing for all those affected by abortion. For more information, go to www.usccb.org/9days.
I know I will be participating. Will you?
