The 45 DAY CHALLENGE 4 VOCATIONS consists in making a commitment, a pledge to do one vocation-related action daily for 45 consecutive days.
Looking at our vocation crunch, I asked myself, “What am I doing concretely to foster vocations?” The answer was, “Not much”. I decided to make a personal commitment to do a little action daily. Then I thought of asking a few people to join me.
The commitment in itself is simple. For 45 days, I will do one action daily to promote vocations. Actions can consist in
- praying the rosary for vocations,
- offering my Mass,
- making a sacrifice,
- reading a story of a saintly priest or religious to my kids
- handing out a discernment brochure to a young man or woman after Mass
- invite someone to go on a Test-Your-Call retreat
At the end of the day, I will record my action of the day in my Vocation Action Tracker. If I come to the end of the day and I see I have not done anything, I can take out my Prayer for Vocations card and pray it.
The Challenge begins on November 11, 2016. The day was chosen because it falls in the middle of the National Vocation Awareness Week. It is the first day of the Novena to Christ the King and is 45 days from Christmas.
I hope that this effort creates awareness among lay Catholics, that we can all do a little something to help the Church. I hope that we can raise many prayers to the Lord of the Harvest and that he will bless our efforts with many good priests and religious.
If you feel that the Holy Spirit is inspiring you to do something for vocations, then please do not hesitate to join the 45 Day Challenge 4 Vocations. Send me an email at 45daychallenge4vocations@gmail.com to receive your Vocation Action Tracker, Vocation Action Checklist and Prayer for Vocations.
