CCC # 1391: The principal fruit of receiving the Eucharist in Holy Communion is an intimate union with Christ Jesus. Indeed, the Lord said: “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” Life in Christ has its foundation in the Eucharistic banquet: “As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.”
Blessed Mother Teresa had a very deep devotion to Christ in the Eucharist and from this Sacrament derived much of her strength and enthusiasm. Even in the midst of darkness, she still forged ahead. Once she was praying in an adoration chapel, and asked a priest how his prayer was going…the priest replied, “a little dry and hard.” She responded with a smile, “It is a little dry and hard for me as well.” God blessed her faith and humility and she is now with Christ in heaven, face to face.
