Today I have seen many comments from people on social media calling for our Pope to have waited longer to make his earth shaking announcement. I myself can only respond with a sigh and a prayer, “Oh my Jesus, I trust in You.”
I will take the advice of the late great John Paul II to “Be not afraid” and use this upcoming season of Lent to pray and fast for the Holy Spirit to guide my Church into the future, as always. There could not be a better time to bring down God’s grace to our Church and world, as we prepare to celebrate the great mystery of our faith – through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are saved.
Let those of us in our movement lead the way of trust into the adventure of this Year of Faith.
And, as I said on my Facebook post this morning to Pope Benedict the XVI, “God bless you Papa! We will miss you. God, watch over your Church as you help us choose a new shepherd.”
