Paula Trevino — second report from Haiti

Smelly, filthy, austere conditions, hard work, billion and billions of beans….23 missionaries and 230 babies.

10:00 am: Intense heat, bewildered missionaries and a huge task of packing 10,000 pounds of beans. With 23 young souls, this task was accomplished in merely one hour and forty-five minutes. Who said that teenagers are lazy! We prove them wrong.

How to find the tender heart of a teenager? Surround them with “need”; babies, toddlers and malnourish new born babies. Today I saw some of the most beautiful portraits, the “tough teenager” snuggling babies, teary eyes but a huge smile and sense of satisfaction. I think I’m grasping what they are searching for: the true meaning of happiness: SERVICE.
