The Big 3-0

As my sister has been harassing me for a few months, I am almost 30. It would be improper to say the age of a lady but in The Vocation to Matrimony, I mentioned my age when she was born.

I got my first card in the mail from my mom a few days ago and I am sure I will get something from my sisters via e-mail on the day. My mom’s has Pope Benedict and Christ (see picture), but I expect my sisters to send me something about needing a fire extinguisher for so many candles.

It may seem like an ideal time to look back but I don’t see too much; I hope looking forward shows better results. For one, unless something changes, I’ll be a priest.

What do I want for my birthday? I had to think. Still, nothing really came to my mind.

When I was a kid, whenever we asked mom what she wanted, she would say the best gift was that we were all happy. As a kid, I though it was a white lie; but now, as I mature, I want to say almost the same thing. I want everyone to be happy and holy.

I am sure prayers are most important for this. If God is with everyone, they shall be both happy and holy.

Of course, material means might help for my religious family. My biological family would not consider itself rich but no one is in need, while my religious family lives off donations. I know some brothers who would be happier or holier with a new study bible ($50), new pants ($15), or a new suit ($150). I am sure these would be appropriate gifts to offer. And I think it will help you to as the brothers pray for the intentions of our benefactors.

If you want to give me a birthday gift or if you just want to help forming priests, you can logon to our online donation system. If you put me as the beneficiary, I can guarantee a personal thank you but if you don’t we will send you the same nice thank you we send everyone.

I look forward to my priesthood. I hope all of my reflections here have helped you understand our life and grow closer to Christ yourself. I hope you can help but understand those who can’t.
