My pastor always wishes us a Blessed Christmas. When I first heard him say this, I asked him why he doesn’t just say “Merry Christmas” like everyone else.
He explained that “merry” suggests fun and frolicking. It suggests celebration and a party. And while there is a celebratory aspect to the arrival of God on earth, my pastor said “blessed” suggests the holiness of Christ’s birth and the salvation he brings to us all. And this is a time for us all to wish that blessedness on each other.
I have to agree. And since receiving that explanation, I have been wishing people a Blessed Christmas. It generates some strange looks – and some knowing smiles.
So, I hope everyone who visits Regnum Christi Live has a very Blessed Christmas. All of you are in my prayers.
