Secrets of Christmas

I was checking my Facebook and saw two interesting pictures:

Then I went on to open my email and I saw the headline of a news article by Katie Pavlich: “76 Percent of America Thinks Christmas Should Be About Jesus”…it got me thinking, things aren’t so bad after all. It gave me hope. Hope: one of the main “secrets” of Christmas.

Even though it is not that common anymore in public places, the majority of our homes still display the Nativity Scene. And in almost all Christian churches and Catholic schools we have the traditional Christmas pageant. I want to share with you what I interpret the meaning of all the characters to be – the star: humility, guide; the shepherds: simplicity and faith; the donkey and cow: calm; the magi: docility; the angels: spirituality, joy; the manger: poverty; the night: peace; the town: hope; Mary: silence; Joseph: perseverance; Baby Jesus: LOVE.

Some people call these the secrets of Christmas: peace, joy, docility, perseverance, silence, poverty, humility, guide, peace, faith, hope, love. May you and your family have a blessed Christmas!

Prayer and Action: Sing your favorite Christmas Carol in front of the Nativity Scene and try to unwrap the secrets and make them yours.
