To love is to be vulnerable

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will be certainly be wrung and possibly be broken.”  (C.S. Lewis)

I look back with awe and respect on how much pain my mom’s heart endured from having 3 type “A” sons (and a type “A” dad).  My older sister was the only one who brought a little relief to her aching heart.  We offered her such little gratitude for so many acts of love and service, such little respect at times when we decided to have an prideful “attitude”, such little concern for her needs and desires…we just took mom for granted and in spite of the pain, she never shut down or gave up on us.
