On a beautiful autumn afternoon 37 years ago today, a beautiful, bright, clever, artistic young woman named Charmaine became my wife.
Thanks to her, I have a wonderful son and daughter. Thanks to her, I became a Catholic. Thanks to her, I have become a better person than I ever could have become absent her presence in my life.
Neither of us is a saint, so marriage has sometimes been a challenge. I caused most of the problems; she inspired most of the solutions. She is the person I not only love the most in the world, but for whom I have the highest respect.
Charmaine is my best friend. And she is still the prettiest girl I know.
