Live in the present…

“Faith is like a dark tunnel: God gives us the Light to take one step at a time. The Light is not given to see the end of the tunnel.” Fr. Walter Ciszek (1904-1984)

One of the devil’s most effective and deadly temptations is to create tremendous anxiety towards the future, especially in moments of darkness.  If your marriage is going through a few bumps, he will make you think that it will only get much worse in the weeks and years to come.  If you struggle with a particular weakness or sin, he will make you think that there is no hope in overcoming it, so you mine as well give up now. If your prayer life is dry and tedious, he will make you think that you are wasting your time and that God simply does not care about you.

Live in the present and leave the future in God’s hands!  Live with an attitude of generous and humble service!  Beg Christ for the grace to help you persevere today and trust, that although his paths may lead through temporary darkness, the end result is always light, peace and fulfillment.
