We’ll all excited about today’s Vatican announcement. I want to share the following from my friend and colleague in the Mexico Communications Office, Juan Carlos Arceo:
“This July 9, the Holy See communicated the appointment of Archbishop Velasio de Paolis, C.S. as the pontifical delegate for the Legionaries of Christ. The Legion has already welcomed him with open arms, pledging their full support and cooperation. In the next few days, Archbishop Velasio will meet with the Legionaries in Rome to greet them and to present the essential points of task the Holy Father assigned to him. Many other details will be coming out in the next few weeks.
“For now, let’s thank God for this appointment that shows us the motherly closeness of the Church, which accompanies us on our way. The pontifical delegate has a lot of work ahead of him, and without a doubt, he will also have the support, loyalty, and initiative not only of the Legionaries of Christ, but also of Regnum Christi members.
“Welcome, Archbishop Velasio, and count on our prayers!”
I heartily agree! The Archbishop’s warm encouraging words during his homily Saturday in Rome brought tears to my eyes. We are very blessed to have him with us during this difficult time.
