As Gentle as Silence

silenceThe Year of Consecrated Life closed pretty quietly here in Cerro Del Coto. The Apostolate Community went to a diocesan gathering at La Catedral de l’Almudena and the formation community had a normal solemn rosary. It has finished slightly eclipsed, or better, it closed in the arms of Mercy. Consecrated life is a quiet and persistent reminder of the mercy of God Incarnate, incarnated in the lives of those who have let themselves be penetrated by and respond to His mercy with everything they have and are. And it’s often as As Gentle as Silence

Oh the love of my Lord is the essence,

Of all that I love here on Earth.

All the beauty I see, He has given to me,

And His giving is as gentle as silence.

Every day, every hour, every moment,

Have been blessed by the strength of His love,

At the turn of each tide, He is there at my side,

And his touch is as gentle as silence.

There’ve been times when I’ve turned from His Presence,

And I’ve walked other paths, other ways.

But I’ve called on His Name, in the dark of my shame,

And His mercy is as gentle as silence…
