I’ve been waiting for more than a year to start a great journey. And it’s not just any kind of journey; it’s a Journey of the Eucharist. Four other Legionary Brothers and I are going to the Philippines to participate in the 51st International Eucharistic Congress.
Catholics from all over the world gather every four years to celebrate the gift of the Eucharist. They do it in order to promote the awareness that the Eucharist must be at the center of the life and mission of the Church. This year’s IEC will be at Cebu City, where 500 years ago the Holy Mass was celebrated for the first time in the Philippines.
We will travel for more than 17 hours and 7,000 miles in order to place the Body and Blood of Christ at the center of our lives, along with thousands of people from all parts of the world.
This journey is a good symbol for what this Congress means for the Church. It’s a pause in our journey to dive deep into the mystery of God’s mercy, poured out for us in the Eucharist.
You’re invited to join me and my fellow brothers in this “Journey of the Eucharist” together with thousands of Catholics as we share our experiences through this blog. Stay tuned!
