Part of a team

“When you find yourself wanting to turn your children, or pupils, or even your neighbors, into people exactly like yourself, remember that God probably never meant them to be that. You and they are different organs, intended to do different things.” — CS Lewis

Looking back on my High School soccer days, our team did so well because everyone played their role and their position with intensity. Our defensive line was an impenetrable wall, our midfielders controlled the ball up and down the field, and our forwards were always looking for the best pass and best shot on goal. This is a microcosm of life in a family, in a business, in a religious community…we all need to use our strengths not so much to highlight ourselves but to look for the good of the team, without trying to be everything or change everyone.
