You would think in a society governed by the philosophy of relativism, which gives every person the ability to define his or her own truth, or world-view, or way of thinking – whatever you want to call it — that we could talk about all manner of ways to live out our sexuality.
In a world where its considered compassionate to allow same-sex “marriage,” or enlightened to accept “committed” relationships that don’t have the burden of a written contract, or tolerant to realize all people are unique and are “stimulated” in many different ways by whatever type of fetish can fulfill whatever fantasy that excites them via the Internet, then we ought to be open to all types of expression, sexual or otherwise. (There are no set rules because there is not one Truth, right?)
Apparently, the idea that “You’re OK, I’m OK, We’re All OK” relativism regarding sexuality only goes so far in our politically correct society. We are still shocked by sexuality that involves adults and children, aren’t we?
I propose two more “shocking” lifestyle choices for your consideration.
The first is detailed in an article written by a woman who calls herself a “lesbian” but has found fulfillment in her marriage to a man. (Gasp!)
The second article is about some young people who feel a strong call to a celibate lifestyle, but find there is no way to live this out in our present society. (Well, duh!)
Why should the authors of the following articles have had to write them if relativistic views on sexuality are in fact “true”? Why did they get, in return for writing these articles, comments from readers seething with “vitriol,” or made to feel their lifestyle choice is forbidden?
I suggest you read these articles in their entirety, and consider that these people’s choices ought to be accepted in a truly free and open-minded society…unless we are not as open-minded and free today as we like to think we are.
Maybe, just maybe, there are rules …it just depends on who or what is making those rules.
