The 4 levels of happiness

“If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place of training and correction and it’s not so bad.” (CS Lewis)

Super Bowl victories do not just happen. It comes with a lot of hard work in training camp, practice and a full effort in every play of every game. Inner peace and deep inner joy do not just happen. Fr. Robert Spitzer SJ, former President of Gonzaga University, made this simple list of the different levels of happiness.

1. Feeling good

2. Feeling good about yourself

3. Living in a selfless way for others

4. Union with God

Go to the 3rd and 4th level, and you can experience a taste of heaven on earth. Lots of prayer, and lots of selfless service. It’s all about getting close to Christ and effectively transmitting his love!
