Catholics: Be All You Can Be — For Christ!

“Let us thank God that he makes us live among the present problems. It is no longer permitted to anyone to be mediocre.”  (Pope Pius XI)

When I was a Sophomore at Michigan State University, one of my friends played a practical joke on me by telling an Army recruiter that I was really interested in enlisting…so a few weeks later, I was sent a package of army hats, a t-shirt, duffle bag and stickers that said “Army. Be All You Can Be.”  (He also told the recruiter that the best time to reach me was at 5:30 AM on a Saturday morning…not funny!)

When you received the Sacrament of Confirmation, you became “Soldiers for Christ.” In today’s society, we are fighting against secularism, practical atheism, excessive materialism and hedonism.   There are so few authentic, genuine, prayerful, selfless, humble and pure souls.  So few souls who shine in the darkness and who truly have Christ at the center of their lives.  So few souls who are focused on sharing this treasure with those around them.  Christ really needs your help.  Christ needs a full commitment to holiness.  He is looking each one of you in the eyes, asking you from the heart for help.  “Catholics: Be All You Can Be- for Christ!!”
