If you really want to love, learn how to forgive

“If you really want to love, learn how to forgive.”  (Blessed Mother Teresa)

I rarely speak of the devil, but this bad guy does exists.  His main goal is to pull you away from Christ in prayer and to create division in your marriage.  One of his classic attacks is to pull up past offenses from our memory and remind us again and again how painful it was, how unjust it was, how humiliating it was…and he tries to make the resentment boil.  He is totally opposed to true love and hence even more opposed to forgiveness.

Take away his ammunition!  Blow up the grudge box!  Let it go, and when it tries to come back into your imagination and memory, remember it doesn’t come from God and will only do great harm to your soul and your spouse.  Temptation begins with a negative thought provoked by the devil and we need to discern these thoughts and fight off the garbage.
