“Always be ready to give an account of the hope that is in you.” (1 Peter 3:15)
Last Thursday on my metro ride downtown, a young man in his 20’s with a backpack approached me and began by saying, “I was raised Catholic, but left the Church and re-discovered Christ in a Protestant Church. I guess I still have a lot of questions…” For the next ten minutes, we talked about the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, the Scriptural references of Christ wanting to have our sins forgiven through a priest instead of “going directly to God for forgiveness”, the role of the Blessed Mother as our advocate and friend who has direct access to the heart of Christ her son…we ended up getting off at the same stop, and continued the conversation as we walked up the escalator. Finally, he looked me in the eyes, and said, “Thank you so much for your explanation, it really helped clear up a lot of doubts. ” I told him to consider coming back to the Faith and that I would pray for him. He shook my hand with a smile and said, “Thank you very much!” (I ask all of you to pray for him as well…his name is Michael)
There are so many fallen away Catholics out there! Please do not be afraid to approach your family members and friends to “give an account of the hope that is in you” and share the treasure!
All I have to say is Amen! Thank God for priests like you.
Peace be with you. I get really sad to see how we are worried about those who already have a relationship with God, just to forget those who never heard of Him, or are atheist, or even devil worshipers. In Heaven we will not have tags JUST FOR CATHOLICS or OTHERS…. we will have those who were washed by the BLOOD OF JESUS and understand His teachings. We should gather people back to the KINGDOM OF GOD instead of underestimate brothers and sisters from other doctrines. Please reconsider your ways. God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ, the One who died for u and me.
