First Christ, then your spouse, then your kids and your job.

“My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to complete his work.”  (Jn 4: 34)

During one of my Theology classes in Rome, the professor drew a simple triangle on the blackboard.  The vertex represented God and the two base points represented the husband and the wife..  He said, “If the husband and the wife are not both connected to God through an intense prayer and Sacramental life, their relationship as a couple probably will not last.”  Why does our country have a 50% divorce rate?  Moms tend to focus too much on the kids.  Dads tend to focus too much on success at work.  Both are noble and important tasks for sure.  But if Christ is not at the center and you are not investing serious time and sincere love into your marriage, then you are missing the fundamental purpose of your existence.  And by the way, this is the best way to truly serve your kids!
