Here I am, send me

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am, Send me!”” Isaiah 6:8

How often do we notice problems and hear the inspiration to do something about it? Christ observes our daily reality and all the souls connected to us. He sees the problems surrounding us before they develop and he sends the Holy Spirit to enlighten us as well. Do we respond, “Here I am, send me?” I listed a few examples below that might help to discern the voice of Christ asking for our help.

1. Perhaps saying a kind word to a sad or depressed soul?
2. Making another person the center of a conversation.
3. Stepping up to help someone in need, (opening the door, passing the food platter, refilling the water pitcher, helping to wash the dishes or fold the laundry…)
4. Saying a heart-felt prayer for those “tough cases” in which our words or actions are simply are not enough.
5. Patiently listening to a needy soul with all of our attention and love.
