A saint close to home

If you are anything like me (trying to be a practicing Catholic) you probably have a calendar in your home with important Church dates listed.  And like my calendar, yours probably says that today is the day to recognize Blessed Andre Bessette.

Of course, as my friend Legionary Priest Paul Moreau pointed out to me earlier today, as of October 17, 2010, Blessed Andre is SAINT Andre.  And for Father Paul, this saint hits close to home.  He explained to me:

In late 1917 or early 1918 when my Dad was about a year old, my grandmother took him to Br Andre. Dad had eczema all over most of his body and was miserable because of the discomfort. Br. Andre held him in his arms for a for moments, prayed to St. Joseph and then gave him back to grandma. Grandma took Dad home and when she arrived noticed that his skin was clear all over his whole body. Interestingly, a couple of my brothers have bad eczema now. No more Br. Andre to go to for the cure. And I guess cures are not inherited.  Dad’s name was Joseph Hubert Moreau. He died July 23, 2003.

Many miracles are not so obvious or clear.  But I think they happen every day.  God is so very good!
