Nobody said that marriage is a piece of cake,
With your kids in the mix, there is a lot at stake.
You said, “In good times and bad, till death do us part.”
To persevere to the end, you need lots of heart!
A wife needs your ear, and a look that you care,
Empathy, not solutions…this is so, so rare!
Show her appreciation for her endless chores,
Pull back her chair at dinner, and open the doors!
Tell her, “I love you honey,” at least once a day,
These are words that you absolutely have to say.
The kindness of your tone, the giving of your time,
This will ring in her soul like the sweetest of rhymes.
Do not nag your husband, give the poor guy a break!
Cook him twice baked potatoes and a sirloin steak!
He needs time with the boys, and a day at the links,
A few hours at the range to work out the kinks.
Respect his cave time, with the sports page and a beer,
Avoid “back-seat” driving, just allow him to steer!
The grudge box must be blown up, don’t bring back the past,
This is a cause why many marriages don’t last.
The kids need two parents who are truly engaged,
Your example matters, they absorb all your sage.
Please show them the path of unconditional love,
They will then understand God the Father above.
But without Christ at the center, there is no hope.
The grace from the Sacraments allow you to cope.
It takes three to get married and three to succeed,
A faithful marriage is an incredible deed!
