The moment of consecration

“When you look at the Crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then. When you look at the Sacred Host you understand how much Jesus loves you now” (Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta)

The highlight of my day as a priest is to hold the Sacred Host in my hands and contemplate Christ during this intense moment of consecration.  My prayer is usually the following:  “Thank you Jesus for allowing me to be a part of this amazing miracle.  Thank you for allowing me to hold you in my hands and in a few minutes to have you so close to my heart.  Please help me to be as pure as this pure white host.  Please break my pride and my selfishness as you were broken on the cross and help me to truly die to myself today.  Thank you Jesus, for staying so close to me as my faithful friend…I am so grateful for this incredible gift of the priesthood.”
