God whispers, he does not shout. One of my spiritual directors helped me a lot with my prayer life when he asked if I was “listening” to Christ in my prayer. I was thinking, reflecting, and analyzing Scripture, but I was not listening to Christ. Leave the world and all of your concerns behind when you pray, find a quiet place, and open up your heart and mind for God to speak to you…the world can wait!
