Getting to the mystery

“For a stalk to grow or a flower to open there must be time that cannot be forced; nine months must go by for the birth of a human child; to write a book or compose music often years must be dedicated to patient research. To find the mystery there must be patience, interior purification, silence, waiting.” ~St. Pope John Paul II

Having run cross country in High School, I learned the value of long and hard training both in the summer and during the week before the races. The spiritual life is not much different. First, you need to lace up your shoes and do some stretching, then some light jogging, then eventually some long distance running and mountain running. Daily prayer and regular use of the Sacraments will take you to the mystery of a personal friendship with Christ, and nothing in this world comes close to this level of fulfillment.
