Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal

“Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.” St. Thomas More

During my final exam for my License degree in Philosophy, I was asked to explain “the problem of suffering”. I responded with a thorough 10 minute dissertation that satisfied the professor and then I said, “I don’t consider suffering to be a problem, but rather a gift. My brother died 3 years ago and my dad died last year…it has been difficult, but it helped me to reflect more on my own mortality and on heaven, where I hope to see them again. It also brought me a lot closer to Christ as my true anchor and absolute best friend and it has made me more sensitive to other people’s suffering. Suffering can be a tremendous gift!”
