Do you remember Twinkies? Now imagine getting a semi truck load of them.

That is about what happened to us a few months back. Brioss is the name here and they are little less artificial. I mean, look at the picture: they’re pouring pure milk into them and it looks like they were baked not inflated. (Italians don’t believe in things that are too artificial; our Italian professor proudly claimed he had never owned a microwave.)

Even though we are 300, we don’t eat them that fast.

We have had them for lunch,

We have had them by the bunch,

We have had them for snack,

We have had them in plastic wrap,

We have had them for breakfast,

We will keep eating them while they last,

We have had them when we hiked,

We have had some that we liked,

We have had them with apricot jam,

We have had them before breakfast ham,

We have had them by the box,

We have yet to eat them with lox,

We have had them heated up,

We have had them in syrup.

I guess we are not like “Sam I Am” in Green Eggs and Ham because instead of rejecting a different food, I embrace it.

But this is one of the concrete effects of poverty. I probably would have eaten a few, and switched to something else if I had money to buy a nicer snack, but I have eaten several a day since June because that is what the Good Lord provides. How good he is even when we don’t realize it.
