Pray for more priests

“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is rich but the laborers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send our laborers to his harvest.”  Mt 9: 37

Our annual Christmas mission trip to El Salvador is always a wake up call.  The Pastor, Fr. Adonai, is responsible for over 12,000 Catholics and 24 villages nestled in the mountains of Zaragoza.  He does not have an associate priest or a deacon, but thanks to his full time evangelizer, Humberto, many of the parishes do have a strong catechetical program.  But there are certain things that only a priest can do.  In the Mass, Christ comes down to the altar and into your hearts through the words of consecration spoken by a priest.  In Confession, Christ forgives your sins by the words of absolution spoken by a priest.  In Anointing of the Sick, Christ heals and strengthens your soul through the prayers and the oil imparted by the hands of a priest.  We need more priests.  Please pray for more priests!
